Nothing much worse, when you start a blog, than having no traffic flowing through your little blog neighbourhood. It’s kind of a requirement for online marketing success.

I love blogging because it gives me a great way to share experiences and ideas without it costing a fortune.

In any given month there could be over fifty thousand blog searches. If you don’t create a great blog you will not be in the search of a great site. There are certain things that you can do, however, to generate website traffic.

1. Original content – Blogs need to be updated frequently and it’s the information in your blog that keeps it going. The content of your blog is most important portion of getting visitors and changing those visitors into subscribers to your blog. You need to make certain that your content in your blog has relevancy to your subject. It also should be valuable and educational. If you concentrate on your content the visitors will come.

Also you need to keep your content simple and easy to read. In addition keep your paragraphs simple and sweet and reach your point fast.

2. Bum marketing – When you are trying to enhance your blog traffic write articles and submit them to numerous websites like ezinearticles.com for instance. Make sure that when you submit your article you include the link to your blog to draw in the reader. These links are also excellent for SEO as it builds keywords for your blog. The better the article is the more traffic that you can generate to your blog so be creative and take some time. Don’t just make a fast article and submit it, because if it’s not relevant to your website, chances are the traffic won’t follow to your blog.

3. SEO – You need to form a list of keywords that you want to use in your blog. This is particularly for your title as it is the very first thing that the search site webcrawlers will attach themselves to. A good practice for any blog is about a 1 percent density or less factor. You may also do a little analysis on some competition blogs to see what keywords they are using to promote their sites. Your goal is to be as high on the search engine you can go. The higher you’re the more traffic you will get.

4. Social Sites – Advertise your blogs on social sites. This is a great way to generate traffic. When you concentrate on how many social sites there are out there think about how much traffic that may mean to your blog.

Blogs are great for both personal and business use, but knowing how to get the traffic is critical. In following these easy tenets you will be well on the way to a great blog. Remember the two most critical parts though as you do these steps, keyword and content.

Blogging is now been used by many webmasters, why? Well quite simply it is one of the best ways of adding new content to your site and targeting new keywords. On top of this it also gives you an avenue to provide readers with something to come back for, providing unique quality content will drive links to your pages and increase your online visibility.

There are ways in which we can super optimise our blogs to ensure they are pulling in as much search engine traffic as possible. You see when most people think about search engine optimisation, they think about ranking for the high traffic terms, this is sort of true but in order to have a high traffic website you need to consider the many long tail terms searchers might be using. Remember the majority of searches on Google are long tail and low competition, therefore you cannot afford to miss out on the opportunity to optimise for them.

Having a blog is not enough, you need to use it to write engaging content, content that will keep you visitors coming back for more but this still isn’t enough you need to minful of keywords potential visitors might use to find your content so do some keyword research and reap the reward.

So a natural place to start would be the Google keyword tool, enter some search terms connected with your post content, your not looking for the competitive terms here you are looking for the low traffic long tail terms these are going to be the easiest to target from an SEO perspective.

You will notice a good number of keywords with very little or no competition, make a list as you go through them. It is a good idea to have the target keywords near by so you have them in mind when writing the post. The idea here is to use as many of your low competition terms as possible, using the most relevant as the post title and in the url slug.

Writing lengthy blog posts is one of the best ways of targeting a lot of keyword variations and assists in adding them naturally to your content.

Now you have to think realistically about the traffic, each post should drive anywhere between 15 and 30 visits per month, yep this is low traffic but imagine if you optimised every post in this way. If you had a blog with 1000 posts all optimised in this way that would be close to 30,000 visits a month just by simply optimising some of the posts. This is so easy and ignoring it is a huge missed opportunity, every webmaster needs to tak advantage of it.

How you shouldn’t acquire backlinks

backlinks clinic

Phew, this is a multi-faceted subject and I want to emphasise it’s not clear cut. But here is what I know in my research at the Backlinks clinic:

Authority – explained

The more authority your site has the higher you will rank on Google. Authority means that searchers trust you and your information. The great news is that authorities trusted by humans are also trusted by Google. A good illustration is the .edu and .gov suffixes. These suffixes imply they are credible sources of information and it’s a proven fact that as far as Google is concerned backlinks from these web addresses to your web pages will contribute authority to your web pages. Another good example is Wikipedia as the contents here are largely authored by by tribes of humans as opposed to a single marketer.

So it follows that authority is very heavily influenced by the source of your backlinks and if authoritative web pages link to your site then you receive their authority and in the eyes of Google you become more authoritative and so the trust in your content by Google goes up.

How Google determines what is and isn’t authoritative is undisclosed for good reason and falls in line with Google’s philosophy of “Do no evil”. The last thing the net needs is an individual or a group manipulating the methods that Google employs in its efforts to try and bring some order to probably the most important technological resource of our times.

How not to get Authority and Backlinks

In the same vein it’s valuable to state some common sources and practices of building backlinks that Google not only disapproves of but appears to be moving aggressively to ‘classify’ as negative authorities. In no particular order of merit, the common examples are:

  • Paid backlinks – hubs where people purchase and sell backlinks
  • Comment spam – entries that contain links on web sites that are just not associated to the main theme.
  • Low quality and *duplicate content – ‘scraped’ or copied
  • Rapid backlink growth – there are a large selection of ways that this is achievable, Google isn’t dumb. Any sudden increase in the amount of backlinks is going to register on Google’s radar, especially if it’s a brand new domain.
  • Backlinks from ill reputed web pages – these are particularly destructive as you are guilty by association – need I say more.

*There is another factor where I may be on shakey ground, but large news portals seem to get a lot of authority and I have definitely discovered significant numbers of the same content over and over again on different web sites with no penalties, I am still monitoring this, only as a portion of of the results I am seeing go against the normal behaviors I normally expect to see. More on this is in a future post….

Getting Hoards of Targeted Traffic

Lightning over the outskirts of Oradea, Romani...

Internet Marketing requires you to sell other people’s products or services.  If you have decided to create your own product, you sell your own products in this case. But whether you are selling your own or others, lots of traffic is what you need for your websites. You don’t just want any traffic – what you want is targeted and buying visitors.

In the early days of my internet marketing career, I experimented on different methods for driving traffic. Many of the programs and services that I have purchased did not have a lot of effect on my website traffic.

Listed below are the three traffic generation techniques that I found most effective:

  • Text Link Advertisements

Text links can either be paid or free. The paid methods are paying for your link to be shown in Ezines, newsletters or on other peoples’ sites. The best suggestion that I can give you is to research the Ezines, newsletters and or other people sites that you want to link with before buying. Make sure the traffic and ezine subscriber base is good enough for you.

The unpaid method is through article creation . This requires hard work on your part, but the return will be seen in the long term. Keep in mind, your articles should be relevant and address the subject matter of your site and products.

  • Pay Per Click

If you have the money to invest in your advertising, advertise through pay per click. Here you create an ad or ads relevant to your affiliate program, and place a bid on the keywords you select. You will need a lot of time and energy for research and monitoring if you do this manually and do not know the google secret loophole bonus materials. I would advise that you read your affiliate programs and pay per click rules before doing pay per click.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

This involves targeting a particular keyword and optimizing your website for that particular keyword. You may have to outsource the optimization of your website as this may be time consuming.

These are some of the effective ways to get traffic to your website.

A lot of people today especially those who are into internet marketing are now going for article marketing because they know very well that although some say that blogging is not just about writing, writing is one of the formidable forces that can put your website or your blog to new heights but it takes time.

Article marketing is like a strategy for marketing online that is impulsively used to finally convince a reader that your website is worth dropping by. A direct invitation to visit your website through an article you have submitted to article submission directories or social book marking sites will likely increase your traffic. Article submissions are a long-term investment and there are some article marketing strategies that you need to invest on, that is, if you really want to be successful.

When I first started my internet marketing endeavors, I was ignoring the importance of good and relevant articles I wrote especially when I’m writing a couple of blogs regarding my main site. I said to myself that writing something in a haphazardly way is enough to make my website known. But little do I know that there is a kind of strategy that will really make my virtual store stand out- an article marketing strategy. I have seen a lot of my contemporaries who spend lots of time writing good articles and they will submit it to several article directory websites and make their blogs popular, which in turn, would make their websites popular, too. No wonder they are earning a lot of money today than I do.

Now, I’m ready to learn some article marketing secrets and there is no other place that I need to go to learn it but here online and I just found an e-book guide that will help me develop my article marketing strategy and even this time, I know where my online business is headed- down to SuccessVille.
