Many people see the potential of the web to generate income on auto pilot . The stories sound very simple to implement, but these guys often(as in most of the time) leave out a major portion of their success. They do not tell you how many sites they have working with their method, and they do not tell you how many people they have either outsourcing work or actually working for them to accomplish this.

Think about it – people showing evidence they make 30k, 40k in a single month on the web are NOT doing that with 1 or 2 sites, or by placing a few ads, or by building a few links a day. They very often have web sites numbering in the hundreds that they built up with a team of people helping them.

Given that this is occurring, what are new marketers supposed to do, as everyone has to start somewhere. What needs to be done is to not have unrealistic expectations of earnings and make efficient use of your time. I will share with you a secret to get your site jump started with traffic and ranking for multiple keywords on autopilot.  You can use social bookmarking, an article directory, forum and blog posting – whatever you are best at to build links to your site with this method

This can be started by using the Google keywords tool, or any other software tool of your choice Type in your main keyword and then find related keywords automatically. You want a list of about 200 or so keywords so you can sort through them by searches per month. Sift through this list and pick about 5 top keywords with about 2500-5000 searches per month, and then pick an additional 10 with 1000 or less searches per month, ideally with 4 words in the keyword (long tail).

The regular method most people use is to pick high traffic keywords to build up in hopes you could really get a lot of traffic to your site. This is backward from the way it actually works. While it makes sense that high traffic keywords are great, they are often very difficult to get ranked for and take a ton of effort and time to work on. The real secret to big traffic is to completely ignore the high traffic keywords and work on the long tail ones exclusively. While it seems counter intuitive to do this, it will set your site up for big traffic.

These keywords will be much easier to rank for, and you are shooting for the top 20 on all of them. Once you have this done, you should see some nice traffic. Now is when you start on the top 4 or 5 from your list earlier. It will be far, far easier to rank for them now, as Google will give your site more credence because of the other work you have done. Because you worked on the other keywords first, the amount of work required to rank for these other words is probably cut in half.

Articles Marketing May Seem Boring, But It Works

Any website owner who starts down the path of internet marketing will soon discover how many “guru’s” are out there all claiming some secret trick to boost your search engine rankings. The reality of it is there are some key things to pay close attention to, but a lot of success just comes down to hard work and consistency.Depending on what keywords you are trying to rank with, you can get good results in as little as 1 week, or it may take months of hard work.

Asisde from basic webpage SEO stuff to make sure everything is done correctly, the biggest single factor still in your rankings is the number of links and where they come from.  The PR(page rank) of the site linking to you is important, as is the content on that site.  Recipricol links used to work really well (you link me, I link you) but now its really downplayed by Google as a valid method of links.

The easiest way to get links is through article marketing. This is not the path of the least work, it is the best path to get good, long term results.  The setup is simple:

  1. Do some keyword research on your topic.  Pick 2-4 keywords you will focus on.  Make sure they get decent search volume but do not go after stuff that is too generic (meaning it will have unusually large seached volume) – those will be way too hard to rank on in a reasonable time.
  2. Plan on writing 10 – 12 articles of 300-400 words each, using 2 of the keywords with links to your site in each article, with no more than 3 links per article total.Use the kwyword itself as your link text, not http://.
  3. Publish 4 of the articles on a major article directory that has good ranking such as Ezine Articles or ArticlesBase.  These have human reviewers so it will take a bit of time to get your article published.Luckily they do not require unique posts that are exclusive, so while you are waiting for their approval you can get it posted elsewhere as well.
  4. Make sure you get some software that helps to spin the article content and links.  Basically spinning allows you to subsitute words and sentences for one another so that you can get a different article from the same basic article.  DO NOT try to use rewriting software – I have seen none that do a decent job – usually it reads like garbage and that will not help your rankings.  If you spin an article right, you can easilly get 10-20 different reading articles from a single article, enough to not worry about duplicate content out there (and possible penalties).
  5. The next step is to mass distribute your articles to sites looking for great content.  You can do this manually for free, or find some tools to purchase that can greatly speed this up.  I usually choose to pay some money in the savings of time. There are so many aspects to getting good rankings, you need a trade off somewhere so you can get more done.  You want to make sure you spread out the distribution – its unnatural for any site to go from no links to 500 links in 1 day – what is more natural is 0 to 10 to 18 to 25 to 40 … over many weeks build the level up.
  6. You should start tracking where you rank on the few keywords you have chosen.  After you have about 300 or so links you should start to get decent ranking.  Some keywords that are not as competitive, much less, and of course, some it might take thousands.  Your goal should be to get on the top 2 pages of Google for your search terms.
  7. In addition to the article work, you can also use social media accounts to link to each of the articles you publish AND also to your main web site.  You should make a hub pages site and a squidoo lens about your site or niche as well with links to the site.

Sites all want fresh content on them to improve their quality score. Most want articles about their site topic to keep the viewer on the site longer and to get better search enging ranking.  This is exactly why article marketing works – you get links on disribution sites, webmasters get to search for content to add to their site from what is published.

Finding free articles to put on your website does many things to help you with search engine rankings.  First off, free web content articles provide direct niche content that your viewers are always looking for.Using article directorys allows you to add lots of pages of information to your site, which will also have the side benefit of keeping viewers around longer.Almost any addition of quality content will allow your site to be more well rounded and appear higher in the search engine rankings.Having a bunch of additional content allows you to broaden out your target keywords and pull in more page views.

One of the main keys to keep in mind is to really tailor the articles you add on your site to your specific niche.  If you have a site that sells fishing gear, you dont want articles somewhere on your site about baseball card collecting – people come to your site to buy fishing gear and learn about fishing and techniques.Often a great way to add content is to add a blog to your site – here you can post articles you write AND that you find elsewhere that are interesting.  Its simple to do, and best of all its free.  If you build your site up enough, people will start bookmarking it as a great source of information AND a good place to buy stuff they need. The big thing is to add content to make your site more interesting – this expands your audience. In addition to a blog, you can use RSS feeds from other sources to keep your content fresh and updated. This is a very handy option if you do not have the time to find content manually through searching or write it yourself.Blogs by others, or an article directory are often a terrific source of web content, all of which you can pull in using an RSS feed. One of the benefits to using RSS feeds is they automatically pull the content to your site whenever the source adds information.

Whichever method you choose to get the content on the website, usually this will equate to higher search engine rankings as they get smarter about assessing the quality of sites and knock down the ones that don’t meet the benchmarks for quality.  This also will hurt the sites that have used black hat methods to get Google ranking, as most likely they dont have that much content of any kind – their hurt is your gain.  Using an article directory is a must have for those looking to build up the back links to their websites.
